Who is Jonny Moor?
Dr. Jonny Moor, known here at GAA as PJ (Pastor Jonny), joined our team in 2023 to serve as the high school religion teacher and chaplain.
PJ has spent years helping high school students grow closer to God and navigate the big questions in life as they enter adulthood. If you ask him, he'll tell you he has the best job on earth because he gets to focus entirely on what he loves most, helping people grow spiritually.
He grew up in Portland, Oregon, married his wife, Heather, a couple weeks after graduating college, and got Leo, their Labrador a few months later. He enjoys longboarding, boba, watching a good movie or TV show, and doing home maintenance projects.
His prior educational experience includes high school at Portland Adventist Academy in Oregon, a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Theology and Biblical Languages from Walla Walla University, and Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Andrews University. PJ's doctoral work specialized in discipleship and biblical spirituality and his professional dissertation emphasized helping high school students begin meaningful connections with God through experiential learning.
PJ worked as a pastor in local church settings for over a decade serving as a youth pastor, sole pastor, discipleship pastor, and senior pastor. His teaching experience prior to joining us at GAA includes assistant teaching high school global studies, English Second Language Religion, and Senior Religion.
